Barcelona denies using club resources for election campaigning

FC Barcelona has issued a strong denial in response to claims from the platform Som un Clam, stating that the club is not using its resources to influence the vote of its members or conduct electoral campaigns.

In an official statement, Barcelona clarified that “the club is not carrying out any opinion surveys among members, neither internally nor externally.” The statement added that any polls currently circulating are completely independent of the club, and reminded that the personal data of members is protected under current data protection legislation.

The response comes after Som un Clam criticized the current management, critiquing what it sees as the declining influence of members in the new Camp Nou. According to the platform, of the stadium’s expected 45,000 spectators, fewer than 25,000 would be season ticket holders, a number they consider insufficient and damaging to the club’s historic supporter base.

Som un Clam also called for a rapid increase in season ticket availability, either by reinstating former subscribers or accelerating the waiting list, which they say “advances at a turtle’s pace.” They further pointed to what they describe as unfair seat allocations, noting that some seats with limited visibility are occupied by members rather than visitors.

According to the club, these accusations are unfounded. Barcelona emphasized that it is committed to transparency and respect for its members’ rights, distancing itself from any suggestion that the organization’s structure is being used for political purposes.
